Michelle Upton is the author of contemporary women’s fiction. Her novels, Terms of Inheritance (2022) and Emergency Exit Only (2023), were both published by HarperCollins Australia. Michelle's debut novel, Terms of Inheritance, was shortlisted for the 2021 Banjo Prize run by HarperCollins Australia, and both novels were shortlisted for the Adaptable program organised by the Queensland Writers Centre.

Michelle writes short stories and novels that examine our darkest fears and shine a light on hope and possibility. Born in Birmingham, England, Michelle emigrated to Australia in 2006, and before embarking on her writing career, she was a primary school teacher. Michelle lives on the Redlands Coast in Queensland with her family and is currently writing her third novel.
